So I have been here three times and every time the food is great and the service is excellent. But our last visit we just learned it's under new ownership and a lot of things are going to change. I am a little worried, to be honest. Because everything we have eaten from seafood to chicken has been on point. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I will let you know. It's cute and homey. Please don't make many changes.
Another great meal at Hollands Shelter Creek. Ordered the fried shrimp and clam strips dinner for $22, came with two sides, I picked Mac n cheese and the newly installed salad bar for an additional $3. The shrimp and clam strips were perfectly fried and delicious, a huge portion, and I love how this place has a giant squeeze bottle of tartar sauce right on the table (no stingy packets here!). The Mac n Cheese was SUPERB! Super creamy and indulgent, I highly recommend it. The new salad bar was very nice too, all the popular salad bar bits are there, it was a nice addition to my meal. $25 bucks for myself altogether and I could only eat half, good value in my book. And the complementary Hush Puppies are a nice touch! Still highly recommend!
I love this place even more now!! We eat here at least once per week. The food is consistently great and the service is amazing. I asked for a fried egg on my catfish sandwich and we got it. Thank you Holland's Shelter!!
This place reminds me of those good ole seafood restaurants you went to as a kid. Nothing fancy but you're gonna get a good meal. Not to mention kind service. I stopped by after driving by and seeing a full parking lot. I ordered a to-go plate of a combo seafood platter with shrimp and clams, side of okra, slaw and hushpuppies. The man who was at the front register double checked my takeout box to make sure it right and even made sure I was given enough food! I felt taken care of :) The food was good and tasted like fried seafood. The clams were not chewy but I prefer Calabash's clams. The shrimp were lightly breaded, which I really liked. The hushpuppies were winners. The interior is quaint and has lots of local photos, as well as jams, jellies and other items that can be bought. There is even an ice cream area for scoops of ice cream to top off your meal. This place had a family feel and you could tell it is a local favorite. Glad I found this place!
